1. "We don't want to clean up after a sea sick oranguatan" thus tranquilizers. Dad hadn't ever actually cared for the animals before.

1. hyena cook  - ate rat 1st few days; brute; resourceful; created raft to fish; would have died w/o; ate sailor; 'resourceful man'; killed by Pi after getting hit for losing turtle; didn't object to pi killing him; 'he brought the evil out of me and i have to live with that'
2. zebra sailor - broke leg/infected; mother and i had to hold him down and i did; cook needed bait. 'never understand his sufferring' "happy buddhist"
3. orangutan mother - angry that sailor killed for bait; slapped cook; didn't get onto raft quick enough; was eat by sharks
4. tiger - i was alone in the lifeboat drifting across the ocean and i survived.
